Uploading back issues from life drawings that I've been keeping up with. Luckily, even though I don't update the blog I do keep drawing. The past few weeks have been drenched in busy-ness. Balancing the obvious love for art with other aspects of life like family friends and miscellaneous responsibilities- don't we all. So far so good, though the occasional blog updates get postponed.

Star Wars Piece Progress

Wednesday Night Update

Here's a sneak peak of the Star Wars piece I'm working on...

The color plan is digital, but the finish will be in oils. There will be some deviation from digital, but I don't know how much to expect. It's a relatively new process for me... but I hope to exploit the painterly aspects of oil.

Stay tuned- the canvas needs only 1-2 more coats of gesso and the deadline is fast approaching!

Tonight, a painting to share from the evening's drawing session. Watercolor/gouache/etc. Is there ever enough time? One can only hope to capture a something that photography can't quite do. A struggle of the brush to convey something hand-made, personal, human. Each of us has our own way, in art as in life, and while I'd like to think my drawings say something about me, I don't think I could say what that something is.

Summer nights in California... they are like a second day (a much cooler and more comfortable day). I wish I didn't have to sleep and could just drive around having adventures all night long. That cool crisp air, the clear skies... and if you're by the beach, ou la la!

Catalyst Star Wars Show Progress 1

I'm excited to share the beginnings of something new!
There's an upcoming art show and I'm working to submit a brand new piece. The deadline is later this month (July 24) and if you're interested in learning more about it visit this link. The theme is all things Star Wars, and it's gonna be a lot of fun for anyone who loves the genre.
Here's my sketch for the final piece. It's still in progress and I hope you follow along as I work to complete this. Still not sure what medium, but...  I hope to pleasantly surprise.

Internet! My post is on a Monday night this time. It's a school night and past your bedtime, but naughty child that you are, you've found your way to my corner of the interwebs.
Sunday night was my first time out to Dr. Sketchy's and I met some really friendly people! It's an edgier life drawing night for grown ups, alcoholic beverages available though not required. I happened to be at the one in Anaheim, and it had such a great vibe I think I'll go back again. Here are this week's life drawings submitted for your delight and approval.
