Su/7/29 Long Pose

Only two drawings to share from the night's life drawing, a study and a longer more involved drawing/watercolor. Here's hoping that something of the immediateness of the first survived in the later.

We/7/25

More life drawings to share from last week. I promised myself to attend life drawing regularly. It feels good to know I've been following through, and thank you to everyone who stops by from time to time.

Su/7/22

Uploading back issues from life drawings that I've been keeping up with. Luckily, even though I don't update the blog I do keep drawing. The past few weeks have been drenched in busy-ness. Balancing the obvious love for art with other aspects of life like family friends and miscellaneous responsibilities- don't we all. So far so good, though the occasional blog updates get postponed.

Star Wars Piece Progress

A mid week post with updates on the Star Wars painting I've been working on. I'm very excited to share progress, but as for the final I will post pictures after the show this weekend. If you'd like to attend please visit this tumblr link: Catalyst Strikes Back July 28th

My painting is complete, and so I'll include a sneak peek at the bottom:

Wednesday Night Update

Here's a sneak peak of the Star Wars piece I'm working on...

The color plan is digital, but the finish will be in oils. There will be some deviation from digital, but I don't know how much to expect. It's a relatively new process for me... but I hope to exploit the painterly aspects of oil.

Stay tuned- the canvas needs only 1-2 more coats of gesso and the deadline is fast approaching!

Su/7/15

Tonight, a painting to share from the evening's drawing session. Watercolor/gouache/etc. Is there ever enough time? One can only hope to capture a something that photography can't quite do. A struggle of the brush to convey something hand-made, personal, human. Each of us has our own way, in art as in life, and while I'd like to think my drawings say something about me, I don't think I could say what that something is.

We/7/11 Life Drawing

Summer nights in California... they are like a second day (a much cooler and more comfortable day). I wish I didn't have to sleep and could just drive around having adventures all night long. That cool crisp air, the clear skies... and if you're by the beach, ou la la!

Here are drawings from earlier this evening. Stay cool out there, interwebs.

Catalyst Star Wars Show Progress 1

I'm excited to share the beginnings of something new!
There's an upcoming art show and I'm working to submit a brand new piece. The deadline is later this month (July 24) and if you're interested in learning more about it visit this link. The theme is all things Star Wars, and it's gonna be a lot of fun for anyone who loves the genre.
Here's my sketch for the final piece. It's still in progress and I hope you follow along as I work to complete this. Still not sure what medium, but...  I hope to pleasantly surprise.

Su/7/8 Dr Sketchy's

Internet! My post is on a Monday night this time. It's a school night and past your bedtime, but naughty child that you are, you've found your way to my corner of the interwebs.
Sunday night was my first time out to Dr. Sketchy's and I met some really friendly people! It's an edgier life drawing night for grown ups, alcoholic beverages available though not required. I happened to be at the one in Anaheim, and it had such a great vibe I think I'll go back again. Here are this week's life drawings submitted for your delight and approval.
